Sevcon (Nasdaq: SEV), is starting a new initiative targeting German vehicle makers with the appointment of Helmut Ollhäuser, 52, as its new Business Development Director.
Based near Stuttgart, Mr. Ollhäuser joins Sevcon from Flextronics Automotive where he was Senior Director, Design and Engineering with commercial responsibility for research and development centres in Germany, Canada and China. Key clients included Ford, Daimler, VW, Audi and BMW, as well as related Tier 1 suppliers.
Mr. Ollhäuser previously worked for 10 years with Alcoa Automotive Electronic Engineered Solutions AEES (in Germany its operations were part of Stribel Production GmbH acquired in 2009 by Flextronics).
"As we build our global presence in the electric vehicle industry, cultivating relationships with the German-based OEMs is a key component of our growth strategy," says Mark Durrant, Sevcon's Vice President of Global Sales. "Recruiting a seasoned professional such as Helmut is a significant accomplishment for us. We can now take our advanced range of EV motor controllers to the top German vehicle makers with the confidence of strong local representation."
